SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Born in Adapazarı in 1937, he graduated from Adapazarı Merkez Hacı Köy Primary School in the 1948-1949 academic year, from Adapazarı Boys' Technical School in the 1956-1957 academic year, and from Istanbul (Yıldız) Technical School, Department of Mechanical Engineering in the 1960-1961 academic year as a Mechanical Engineer. He then completed his Master's degree at the same school, specializing in Mechanical Engineering in the 1961-1962 academic year.

After becoming a Mechanical Engineer, he initially worked as a Project Engineer at the SEKA General Directorate for about 6 months. He then moved to the General Directorate of the Meat and Fish Authority (EBK) as a Project Engineer. During his tenure at EBK, he served as the Head of Revisions and Workshops, Deputy Director of Machinery and Facilities, and finally, as the Director of Machinery and Facilities for 5 years between 1970-1975.

During his duties, he focused on local project production, manufacturing, installation, and facility establishment related to refrigeration facilities and cold storage, utilizing all EBK and national resources. Under this effort and leadership, he oversaw the establishment of Urfa, Elazığ, Bursa, Kayseri, Kars, and Adana Meat Processing Plants, Gaziantep, Amasya, Erzincan, Kastamonu, and Bolu Cold Storages, Siverek, Çorum, Çubuk, and Dinar Municipality Cold Storages, and various Military Cold Storages, as well as numerous thermos and refrigerated transport vehicles. He continued the construction and establishment of Tatvan, Van, Suluova, Burdur, Sakarya, Ağrı, and Manisa Meat Processing Plants, Fatsa and Trabzon Fish Processing Plants, Sincan Meat Packaging and Delicatessen Facility, and the Poultry Processing Plant under the same conditions. He left EBK in March 1975 and was appointed as a Lecturer at Elazığ DMMA.

During his tenure at EBK, following the end of the Cyprus Second Peace Operation, he was sent to Cyprus by the order of the Prime Minister with the TÜBİTAK team to restore the industrial facilities in the Liberated Region and to assist in the establishment of the Cyprus Turkish Industry Holding Limited Company.

In his early years as a Mechanical Engineer, he established an association in his village and successfully worked on bringing roads, water, and electricity, as well as building a middle school and teacher housing. Today, his birthplace, Adapazarı Merkez Hacı Village, is a modern village with a primary and secondary school, housing, asphalt roads, water, electricity, telephone, agricultural technician, midwife, and various facilities, having exported numerous educated individuals to serve the country.

During his tenure at EBK, he also worked as a Lecturer at the Male Technical High School, Private Zafer Engineering and Architecture High School, and later at Ankara DMMA Engineering and Architecture High School.

In addition to these duties, he was involved in various book and article writing and publication efforts. He left EBK in March 1975 and was appointed as a Lecturer at Elazığ DMMA, where he also served as the Deputy Head of Education. During this time, he conducted a qualifying study entitled "Investigation of the Frost Formation Event in Refrigeration Units in Cold Storages and Measures to Reduce Frost Formation" as a substitute for a Ph.D. study under the provisions of Article 12 of the Temporary Law No. 1184.

In March 1977, he left Elazığ DMMA and was appointed to Balıkesir DMMA.

At Balıkesir DMMA, he initially served as a Lecturer and Deputy Head of Education for two and a half years. During this time, he prepared his Associate Professorship thesis on "Investigation of Solar Energy Utilization Opportunities in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Processes" and became an Associate Professor on 8 November 1979. He also resigned from his position as Deputy Head of Education on 18 November 1979 and continued his duties as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Lecturer at the same Academy.

After Balıkesir DMMA was officially affiliated with Uludağ University as the Balıkesir Faculty of Engineering under the Decree-Law No. 41 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions dated 20 July 1982, he continued his duties in the same position.

He also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Uludağ University Institute of Science from 24 June 1988 until 3 July 1992, when Balıkesir University was established.

He was promoted to Professor in the Department of Thermodynamics (Refrigeration) at the Faculty of Engineering during the 30 October 1989 meeting of the Executive Board of the Higher Education Council, pursuant to Article 8 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 3455.

He served as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the I. Balıkesir Engineering Symposium held on 26-27 April 1988, the II. Balıkesir Engineering Symposium held on 30-31 May 1991, and the III. Balıkesir Engineering-Architecture Symposium held on 10-11 April 1995.

Prof. Sabri SAVAŞ also served as the Vice-Rector of Balıkesir University from 17 November 1994 to 25 October 1999.

After retiring on 16.05.2003, I continued to serve as a Consultant and Education Specialist at SAVAŞLAR Tesisat, Taahhüt ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi (Tekno – Sav Soğutma Sanayi), a company owned by my children. Together with my nephew, Prof. Dr. Rahmi TÜRK, we founded the association called SOMTAD (Association of Refrigeration, Preservation, Transportation Sciences and Industrialists). We also ensured the publication of the scientific refereed journal named SOĞUK ZİNCİR ve LOJİSTİK, published quarterly, under my responsibility as the Editor-in-Chief.

1981

Our company started its operations in a 20 m² workspace in the center of Balıkesir under the name of Savaşlar Tesisat Taahhüt, initiated by Prof. Sabri SAVAŞ, one of the doyens of the industrial refrigeration sector. Shortly after, with the addition of a 30 m² workshop, the production of cold storage devices, doors, and commercial refrigerators continued. Today, the establishment where we started our operations is symbolically kept open, and dialogues with our old-time tradespeople friends continue.

1983

Production expanded with the construction of a new 100 m² workshop in a separate area.

1985

The production variety and capacity were increased with the addition of 250 m² to the new location along with new machines.

1988

The 2nd generation, who completed their education in the field of engineering, started to take part in the company's management. The first representative of the 2nd generation to join the company, Selçuk SAVAŞ, describes the future generations as follows:

“We were successful students and learned a lot from skilled professionals. Since then, our principle has been to always be honest with our customers, employees, the government, and suppliers, and to always strive to fulfill the commitments we make to them.”

1991

Our company became a Ltd. Şti. Oğuz SAVAŞ joined the company management. We continued to diversify and develop our production activities with designs.

1996

Today, we started the first investments in our modern production facility, which has a 400 m² R&D Center and where our expert staff works in cooperation with academics to introduce innovative products to the sector, primarily environmentally friendly devices with low energy consumption.

1997

A 800 m² production facility was built on our current factory land. The electrostatic powder coating facility was established. We improved our activities by increasing our quality. Ertuğrul SAVAŞ joined the company management as one of the partners.

1999

The Polyurethane Panel Line was established, and production began.

2005

A new factory building of 2500 m² was constructed. Quality production was developed with new machinery and equipment. Export markets were expanded through participation in international trade fairs.

2008

Capacity was increased with the commissioning of a 45-meter panel press line, which was designed and manufactured by our company, along with an additional injection machine.

2013

Capacity expansion was achieved by adding a 2500 m² extension to the factory building.

2015

The total factory area was increased to 8000 m²; the door production area, raw material and semi-finished product storage areas, and welding workshop were developed. Land investment was made in the Balıkesir Organized Industrial Zone.

2017

As part of our investment focus, a second factory building of 6000 m² was constructed in the Balıkesir Organized Industrial Zone; production of refrigerated containers, trailers, and Container Type Cold Storages for transportation vehicles under the FRİSAV brand began.

2018

An investment and trade company was established in Uzbekistan to strengthen commercial activities in this country, with exports made to Uzbekistan.

2019

Production of Polyurethane Panels under the “PANELSAV” brand began with the factory investment made in the Free Zone located in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Our company, SAVAŞLAR LTD. ŞTİ., which has signed numerous domestic and international projects, has aimed to fully fulfill its responsibilities to its customers, employees, suppliers, and industry partners since 1981. Until today, it has undertaken the mission of offering innovative, low energy consumption, high efficiency, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly products to the refrigeration sector.
